At Christ Church CE Academy, we take our role as educator extremely seriously. In the event of school closure, for any circumstances, we must ensure that we continue to provide the high quality education that our pupils and families deserve.
Please read the following carefully: you and your children will see the following message displayed on a regular basis on class blogs and remote learning platforms:
Disclaimer for remote learning:
We are using remote learning opportunities through the use of video communication. It is important that we continue to respect the privacy and intellectual property rights of our school community – our teachers and our pupils. By participating in remote learning, you agree that you may not save, record, share or post any sessions or any photos from any sessions without prior permission. The rules in school apply to this remote classroom experience. Pupils must treat each other with respect during their time together and must obey our school rules. If you or your parents do not agree to these rules, please disconnect from any sessions and contact school to collect a paper-based work pack.
Oak National Academy
What is the Oak National Academy?
Oak National Academy is an online platform, set up by teachers and funded by the Department of Education, giving access 180 lessons a week for every year group from Reception through to year 10.
Oak National Academy provides video lessons for students, with each lesson coming with a corresponding quiz and worksheet.
From the start of the autumn term, Oak National Academy will make available video lessons covering the entire national curriculum. Class Teachers will use these to support remote teaching and learning.
Phonics Lessons
The Department of Education produced lessons for children in Reception and Key Stage 1.
All lessons are introduced by celebrities, including children’s TV presenters, which adds an exciting addition to the lessons.
There are three sets of daily lessons to choose from and we suggest your child starts with one set of lessons most suitable to their year group and reading ability. If you’re not sure which lessons your child should watch or your child finds the lessons too difficult, then contact your child’s Class Teacher who will be able to recommend which lessons are the most appropriate for your child.
White Rose Maths
Always happy to help, the White Rose Maths Team has prepared a series of five maths lessons for each year group from Year 1-8. They will be adding five more each week for the next few weeks. Every lesson comes with a short video showing you clearly and simply how to help your child to complete the activity successfully.
A Guide to Parental Controls
Knowsley City Learning Centres has produced a guide for parents to support online safety at home.
This guide will help you set up parental controls to provide your child with a safer online environment. Parental controls can help to protect your child from seeing something that they shouldn’t – although it is important to emphasise that no system is effective all of the time so it is important to engage with your child and talk to them about their online life regularly.
Mindfulness
Seth Foster, one of our colleagues from Pennine Sports Partnership, has put together some mindfulness practices for families to do at home. We hope you will find these useful.
