Our Art curriculum develops creativity, sets challenges, engages and inspires children and equips them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design.
Achievements
We want children to achieve by:
- feeling challenges in developing their works of art,
- having time to research, explore and experiment with their designs,
- stimulating creativity and imagination whilst giving the child unique opportunities to develop intellectually, emotionally, physically and socially,
- providing opportunities for them to find their (sometimes hidden) gifts and talents,
- engaging them in a world of creativity that will inspire, build confidence and allow them to be inventors in their own right.
Choices
To make children aware they have choices through:
- using their imagination, select resources and widening their ideas to use in their work,
- developing their skills in drawing, painting, sculpture and other techniques,
- improving their ability to control art media, materials and tools,
- being exposed to different artists and their work,
- growing their knowledge of different styles of art and opportunities to try them for themselves.
Enjoyment
To enjoy Art our children need:
- a hands-on practical approach to designing and making products,
- to produce creative work, exploring ideas and recording their experiences,
- to have a range of activities, and techniques to explore,
- to have a knowledge of great artists, craftspeople and designers,
- to develop a critical understanding of art and its wider impact on daily life and the wider world.
